"Complicated Mess has something for everyone: traditionalists, contemporary blues lovers, and Americana fans seeking out crossover material...this terrific blues album will make a great addition to any record collection." - Mark Engleson, AMERICANA HIGHWAY

"The great musicians who bridged the gap between Blues and Jazz and Jump and Swing had unique musical identities, sounds and personalities and they allowed their personal fingerprint on everything they had. People like Charlie Parker, Illinois Jacquet, Lionel Hampton, Charlie Christian had unique sounds and played with energy and vigor. Modern players like Duke Robillard, Doug Deming and Joey DeFrancesco continue that process. It’s about tunes and swing, but it’s also about personalities and telling a story when you play music." -"Little Charlie" Baty

"Deming is a ferocious guitarist, fiery but clean, with a crisp, clear tone reminiscent of Charlie Christian's style." -Grant Britt, BLUES MUSIC MAGAZINE

"Far from contemporary musicians who are trying to renovate the Blues, Doug falls on the contrary as a defender of tradition." -Stephane Gondal, SUD QUEST

" ...here is a cat that is bedrock solid in the blues with inventive guitar licks, clever song writing, and upbeat, dance inducing music. As a guitar player, he nails every category: taste, tone, restraint, timing, and phrasing."  -James Walker, BLUES BLAST MAGAZINE

"Doug Deming seems to be more of a throwback to a bygone era than a purveyor of modern blues in the 21st century " -Craig Ruskey, BLUES ON STAGE

"Most people, upon hearing music by Doug Deming and The Jewel Tones, recognize them as a band that returns to the roots of blues as opposed to a continuation of modern adaptations of the style... completely restored my faith in the genre" - MUZIK REVIEWS

“Doug’s key attributes are economical, fluent and swinging guitar playing, clear vocals and an ability to pen a song that sounds like a lost 1950′s classic.”  – JM, BLUES IN BRITAIN

"Doug Deming & The Jewel Tones are making a new thing out of the old-skool blues, and the results are highly addictive...just swings with loads of energy and style." - SUNDAY NIGHT BLUES PROJECT
